Tim Steele, Vice President, Client Services

After 20-plus years behind the scenes as COO and instructional designer for large and small corporations and non-profits across the country, Tim takes on Oak Hill's client and contractor relationships. The skills and intuition developed over many years in the training field are excellent tools to bring to Oak Hill's client services.

"People have different learning styles, so any kind of training has to take that into account," he says. By attuning himself to the various ways people handle information, Tim is oriented to finding the best methods to work with everyone involved in a project, from clients to project managers to the writers, designers, developers and editors who carry out the projects. He knows it's important to allow for different working styles. "Some people want just the data, the numbers -- and they need it in the right format; others need a story, to see the big picture."

He's on board at Oak Hill to decipher what helps people deliver a project successfully and to ensure the experience is as smooth as possible, given all the moving parts. "The deliverables have to be met, but the relationships between the people involved are very important. I know I'm doing my job if others are able to do theirs."

Tim gained his chops with a variety of clients. He spearheaded training for the worldwide implementation of SAP for Hewlett Packard. He led teams of instructional designers, graphic artists, editors and web developers creating solutions for such clients as Cisco, Intel, Gap and Logitech. After serving as COO for Silicon Valley's Crawford & Associates, he took on the same role in New York for DCM, which provides telemarketing and telefundraising for performing arts organizations such as Carnegie Hall, New York City Opera and Hollywood Bowl, among others.

Though he lived and worked in New York City, and loved it, Tim realized California is home. The opportunity to help Oak Hill grow puts him right where he wants to be. He enjoys playing the piano when his 42 palm trees and two parrots don't monopolize his west coast lifestyle.
