A MESSAGE FROM KATHLEEN In my 10 years as a technical recruiter, I’ve noticed that agencies fall into two camps. The first type of agency often encourages “hit and run” tactics-utilize job boards to find candidates, screen them quickly over the phone, focus on the easy-to-fill jobs, and most of all, beat out the other recruiters trying to fill the position. The other type of agency focuses on building relationships over time and finding new writers through referrals from people they know well. In my opinion, this philosophy is the secret to Oak Hill’s success. And it could be another secret to your success as a contractor. When you've spent time developing the qualities of a rock star, you want to be represented by the very best. Val and the other managers here at Oak Hill have many long-standing relationships with their contractors, and develop strong friendships with both their candidates and clients. For me, it’s refreshing to see a focus on quality instead of quantity and this philosophy fits right in with the strategy of Oak Hill. So, contact me when you're ready to get your name in lights! I hope you enjoy this issue of Oak Hill Ink. If you have suggestions for future topics, we'd love to hear from you. Click here to send us suggestions for the future, or click here to contact me.
